Brian breaks the 10,000 mark and DJP Mom reaches the top 50!
The one and only MobyCoder, Brian Hirt, finally broke into the 10,000’s. That’s not an easy feat for anyone, much less for the one who wastes most of his time keeping this site running!
Also, our contributor and frantic forum user DJP Mom has just reached the all time top 50 contributors chart! She’s the 3rd woman so far to reach such a high ranking in MobyGames history.

Trigger Happy - Videogames and the Entertainment Revolution
Steven Poole, journalist, writer, and composer for television and short films, has decided to give away his first book, Trigger Happy, for free. It discusses the aesthetics of videogames - what they share with cinema, the history of painting, or literature; and what makes them different, in terms of form, psychology and semiotics. It was first published in 2000; the version given away is a revised edition with the afterword written in 2001. The book is offered as a PDF file under a CC license, for a limited time only, with no digital rights management whatsoever. Grab it here.
